HR Committee on Covid-19

On the 31st of March we adapted to the current circonstances by organising our first online HR Committee. We welcomed Anton Wemander Grahm and Elin Osbeck, two experts from Roschier, a Nordic law firm which advises companies on business and law matters.

They provided our group of HR managers for Swedish subsidiaries of French groups in Sweden some details and advice on the new regulations regarding employment law. As they usually do during our committees, HR managers had the opportunity to benchmark their practices on how to handle the crisis from an HR perspective.

The covid-19 outbreak has serious economic and financial consequences on companies’ business in Sweden. In order to mitigate the losses, the government is proposing new regulations. The meeting focused on three main proposals : short-term lay-offs, sick pay rules and liquidity reinforcement via tax account and social contribution.

Short-term lay-offs mean that the employee can receive 90% of the salary and the employer can see salary costs reduced, as the Government covers a large amount of the costs. Anton Wemander Grahm specified which requirements the company must fulfill and how to prepare an application to the Swedish Agency for Growth (Tillväxtverket). Then, Elin Osbeck came back on the new rules regarding sick pay (suspension of medical certificate requirement, suspension of sickness benefit qualifying…) and tax deferral, in particular the 6% interest rate applied by Skatteverket.

As we cannot release the full content of the meeting, you can find more information on the following links :

We also created a page dedicated to Covid-19 related measures on our website for French speakers. Do not hesitate to contact the French chamber of commerce for more information and to be put in contact with some of our members.
