Take a look back on: The Future of Nordic Retail

The 11th of June, Ernst & Young and the CCFS co-organized a seminar on “The Future of Nordic Retail”, for the presentation of EY’s report second edition on this topic. The seminar was held in EY office, central Stockholm. Take a look back on this event that gathered many specialists of the Nordic retail.

The seminar started with EY’s report presentation, made by Carl Lindström. You can find the report here. This report highlights the trends and emerging tools in the sector. Three main actors were identified: Media Industry (Retail marketing aspect), Tech Giants, and China. A road map of the 17 coming years evolution in the retail sector is also integrated into the report. It is concluded with some pieces of advice on how to handle this future.

The report presentation was followed by a panel with Frédéric Guillaume, EMEA & Go-To-Market Director at Babybjorn, Martin Lindgren, Director of Operation Nordic at Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield Nordic, Anders Andréen, Urbanista CEO, and Kay Berg, General Manager for Sweden & Denmark at The Body Shop.

The panel was moderated by Jennifer Rock-Baley, Head of Consumer Products and Retail in the Nordics at EY.

“Shopping mall is like an agora, you must adapt to the customer journey”.

Speakers have been able to share their conception of the retail future, by taking the example of their own company. Frédéric Guillaume highlighted how online retail is important nowadays, saying that it constituted 65% of Babybjorn sales. However, he also reminded that 30% of those online acquisitions started offline as many customers appreciate to have the first contact with the product in a shop before buying it online. Speakers were unanimous in saying that knowing the customer was essential to offer the best buying experience. Data is now as important as the direct contact for that. They are all convinced that despite the quick evolutions, retail will not disappear but will be more and more flexible to always adapt to the new customer needs.

The panel concluded with a questions and answers session with the public. Then, attendees and speakers mingled with some drinks offered by our host and member EY.
